EDUCATION

An important part of our work is spreading the word about what it means to grant rights to nature, and the great work of the burgeoning rights of nature movement.

More about rights of nature

We’re also committed to working with Washington state communities to use the initiative process to give rights to their community river.

Initiative powers in Washington

COALITION BUILDING

We work with residents and organizations around Washington state that have the ability to run an initiative in their community.

Does your community allow for initiatives?

If it does, we’d love to hear from you. It is important that this effort comes from the community that has a river it loves, and it’s important to get as many other local residents and organizations on board to ensure success.

We can help you!

FORMING AND ADVISING POLITICAL COMMITTEES

Once coalitions are forming and the decision has been made to move forward with an initiative, we can work with you to make sure a proper political committee has been formed and it is prepared to take on the initiative process from beginning to end, including public relations.

ENFORCEMENT OF RIGHTS

Once a river has been legally granted rights, those rights have to be enforced if they are not being recognized – and the river cannot do that on it’s own. We will monitor the rivers that have been granted rights and work with the communities to make sure the river gets to the point of being, and remains, healthy and thriving.
