Healthy communities need health ecosystems. We rely on our rivers in Washington state to provide clean water, recreation, fishing, beauty, and serenity. We also count on them to support the abundant native plant and animal species that are vital to our community ecosystems.

But our rivers and their ecosystems have been under attack for decades, threatening our way of life in the Pacific Northwest. Current laws don’t work, or we wouldn’t be constantly on the defense when species are threatened and ecosystems are on the verge of collapse.

It’s time go on the offensive and take back nature on nature’s behalf, and on our behalf. It’s time to use direct democracy and the power of the citizens’ initiative to create healthy river ecosystems and healthy communities.

In 2024, RONI will be coordinating a state-wide city by city initiatives for Rights for Washington’s Rivers.
